Learn from the ultimate Hawaiian waterman!

​

Roray Kam was raised in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, and grew up surfing, fishing, diving, and paddling. Roray has spent countless amounts of time in the water, not just surfing but also teaching others how to surf and has 'raised' many of Florida top surfers from a young age.

​

Roray competed in the Professional Longboard Association (PLA) Tour, the Eastern Surfing Association and other selective pro/am events around the world. He competed in both shortboard and longboard events, and was often placed on the podium. With multiple wins under his belt which included Ron Jon easter surf festival, NKF surf festival, ECSC, Fall Classic surf events, ESA  Regionals,  US open, Costa Rica pro/ams and many more.

Kam was the multiple time East Coast longboard champion in the early 90's.

Some of his travels include Bahamas, Costa Rica, Jamaica, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Tahiti, Peru and all around the US.

Roray pioneered the Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) movement in the early 2006 in South Florida. Roray started sup racing with numerous sup race wins which includes a 3rd place, stock division in the Molokai to Oahu Paddle Race Championship. 32 miles. Roray is also a multi winner in the stand up paddleboard surf division as well and along with sup fishing championships.

He is the creator and director of the RK Sunshine Sup Series (a yearly SUP race series in pompano beach with top elite and recreational sup racers from around the world).

Community involvement:

One of the original founding members of the South Florida Longboard Association SFLA and still active.   

Surfrider Foundation member and started up the Broward County Chapter.

Roray is also an offshore tournament fisherman with team "Hook Me Up" and "Slob City", which places in numerous fishing tournaments.

Victoria Burgess, surfer and world record holder (SUP)

 

Feel safe on the water!  Victoria had a 16 year career as a firefighter/Paramedic and is currently still state certified as a paramedic, CPR, First Aid, and has previous training as a lifeguard and water safety instructor! She owns and operates Tactical Athlete Nutrition +Performance (www.tacticalathletenutrition.com).

​

Victoria has been living in South Florida since the age of 5. Being in and around the ocean led her to her lifes passion of surfing at age 20, and has surfed beautiful waves around the world. She loves to longboard, and being goofy foot, her most favorite break is Chicama Peru.

In 2013 she started to standup paddle board race.

​

Some of her most notable placements:

 

-Guinness World Record holder for her 115-mile journey across the Straits of Florida from Cuba to Key West in 27 hours and 48 minutes, non-stop. She set a Guinness Book of World Records being the fastest across the channel, and the first and only female to do so, thus far. Victoria attempted this crossing to raise awareness to women in sport and equality.  

 

-2x Florida State Paddleboard Championship overall female champion

 

-6th in the world championship race in 2016, in Hawaii (32 miles from the island of Molokai to Oahu)

 

-3rd Maui to Molokai female

 

-2nd overall female Eastern SUP Surf Circuit Tour

 

-1st overall female, Rincon Beach Boy

 

along with many other top placements around the world in SUP racing and surfing.

Community involvement:

​

Aside from her competitive side, Victoria has been extremely involved in the surf and SUP community for many years. She was a pioneer of Surfers for Autism

Helped to start Broward County Surfrider chapter

Head coach of the Broward County Special Olympics SUP team

FormerPresident of the South Florida Longboard Association.

Event co-director of the biggest ocean race series in Florida, the RK Sunshine SUP Series. 

​

She holds a PhD in Health and Human Performance and is a certified sports nutritionist (CISSN) and currently works with many high performance athletes.

​
